Q: How long will it take for photos to appear on tumblr?

A: I’ve been woefully lax about this, putting photos up whenever I get a chance, trying to load up my queue so that if I miss some days if won’t matter that much. This strategy doesn’t really work, and tends to result in little bursts of photos followed by a couple days of internet silence. That said — most of the time I’m exhausted at the end of the day, so the photos will probably continue to go up on weekends and nights off. As of now I’m all caught up on submissions - they’re all either posted or queued and ready to go. 

I guess my answer is that you can expect to see your photos up within about a week of submitted them — sometimes faster, sometimes slower, but usually about a week. Because I’m currently caught up, if you submit something right now it should go up right away!

Q: If I submitted a picture, what are the chances of it getting used (if it follows all the guidelines)?

A: I don’t know! The thing about painting is that it is actually pretty slow work, sometimes painstaking, and definitely not something I am willing to rush. I’ve currently started three paintings (more about this in the next update) and I plan to start another two in the next two weeks. So that’s five for June and July, maybe one more if things move quickly, and then probably another five-six for the next couple months. I think at most I’ll be doing around 15 paintings by November, which is when the school component of this project is over. I’ll keep working on this project after that, but I’ll also be working on other things, so I don’t know what kind of pace I will keep. My goal is to have at least a gallery’s worth of work by the time I finish.

So, if I’m capping the total submissions at 100, painting maybe 20 portraits total, and maybe 20 of those 100 submissions don’t follow the guidelines, then probably you have about a 25% (1 in 4) chance of being painted.
